I saw these over on the Bluelines blog and had all types of ideas. These blank board books are perfect for all types of projects. Let me share a few...

#1 You could uses these to make wonderful childrens books. You can incorporate little ones in the creation of the story and cut out your own pictures.
#2 You can use these little books to be the basis of a baby shower design. Incorporate the party theme and create a lovely little story that can lead up to the shower invite on the last page.
#3 You can use them as an activity at a birthday party allowing kids to make their own story creation to share with their parents.
#4 You could use them for a party centerpiece for a children's birthday party. I would think the book could feature the number of the year the child is.

There are plenty of ideas and these are just a few to get you started. This is such a great weekend craft everyone can enjoy.

I saw this picture...

On this blog and it got me thinking about words and how sometimes the right ones make the day a lot better. I wanted to share some words I've noticed through the blogosphere that well, now I'm on the hunt to place somewhere in my own home.

This popular poster says it all when days are chaotic {to say the least} I love pink but you can find one in your favorite color too.

This one is lovely and if you're a avid Domino Mag reader I'm sure you fell in love with it just like I did.

I saw this one here but you can find your copy here. Sometimes these words are so easily forgotten {especially when everything seems to be going wrong}

There are plenty more where these come from but just think about it... isn't it amazing how a few words can change how you feel or what you're thinking? So go ahead and find some motivating words to hang in your space.

Ready to Sew

I'll admit it. When it comes to sewing... I'm horrible. Well, My 8th grade home economics class proved I was horrible. Since then I steered clear of a sewing machine leaving any thing requiring needle, thread or the machine to my Mom and Sister. Well... there's a point in life when we must do the things that are the most challenging to us and I've decided to make sewing a challenge I'd like to tackle. I see so many wonderful things that I would love to make that I just have to try and see if maybe this time I might be able to be better at sewing than I was in 8th grade. Here are some of the things on my list that I'd like to try. If you have any suggestions, ideas, positive energy please share.

I'd like to make a few lovely things from this book.

I'm in love with the pattern designs by Amy Butler, so I'd love to make a few things using this book too.

Plus I've started collecting a slew of projects I'd like to try out too like this and this.

**Hi all, sorry for the limited post. I've been battling a flu bug and slowly getting back to blogging.

Galison creates some lovely paper goodies that you can't help but enjoy. I'm currently in love with the memo mousepads.

If you're working at your computer and an idea hits use this memo pad to capture your idea. Perfect for keeping track of your daily things to do, websites, phone messages and instead of searching for paper and pen, its right there under your mouse. Of course once you see these mouse pads you'll fall in love with their other products too.

If you're hosting a bridal shower send one of the cards from the recipe box to all the guest and ask everyone to share their favorite recipe. You can collect those cards during the shower then package and give them to the bride to be. She will have a multitude of recipes to try and all of them filled with love.

Over the summer, while my niece was visiting I bought this little kit to make paper flowers. I thought it would be a cool activitiy and fun entertainment for all. Well, my niece was interested long enough to do the flowers but after that, I was creating them alone. Well, since getting this little kit at target I have seen more and more people using paper flowers and have noticed that a lot of events, weddings etc use them in place of actual flowers. Well, to add to this stylish yet crafty idea, I noticed this crepe paper rose bouquet kit at martha stewart crafts and couldn't help but share, it's perfect for valentines day, great for wedding showers, baby showers, rehearsals, or the wedding itself, and these look so close to the real thing.

Gocco Anyone? Pt. 1

There are many of you who hear the words Gocco and know exactly what I'm talking about, but for those of you who may say--Huh? This post is for you. I received a request to share how the Gocco works and I'm always happy to gocco so why not chronicle the process while making some holiday cards. If you want history about the gocco, visit here If you're like me looking on a daily basis for places to find supplies... visit here for a list of resources. Need Gocco Inspiration or just want to see how others use their gocco, visit Flickr and type in Gocco and you'll be amazed at what you find.

For all of you gocco experts if you do something different please share but this is my process and as a novice in the world of gocco... its pretty basic, but I would be lying if I didn't say there is a gocco learning curve. In all honesty, it's better to just get one and start using it and allow for mistakes and mishaps because it will only make you better in the long run. Instead of one long post I've broken it up. Let's Gocco!

Let's Gocco Pt.2

I have the B5 gocco, its larger than the one many people have. My screens are larger and it requires more bulbs etc. So I'll talk about my process with this model of the Gocco {although the process isn't too different}

First Supplies...
Gocco
Blue Filter
Original Overlay Paper
B5 Screen
4-Bulbs
Inks
Ink Blocking tape
Laser print out or copy of your design

** You need the laser print out because the carbon in the ink is what creates your design on the screen when the bulbs flash and basically take a picture of your image. Then its the image on the screen that will allow for ink to come through to make your design.

Step One: Setting Everything Up.

A. Place the Original Overlay Paper on to the sticky padding (this is needed only when you are making your original document) *since the pad is sticky this will ensure your image with adhere to the screen and not stay stuck to the padding.

B. Grab your screen and filter and place the filter on the site of the screen that is is clear with the blue side of the screen (and you will see an arrow in the left corner) facing you.

C. Slide the filter and screen into the slot making sure it is secure and in the right position.

D. Place your image on top of the Original Overlay Paper.

E. Check your image by closing the gocco to make sure your image is centered and how you want it positioned for prining. Once you are satisified with the position of the image close your gocco.

Let's Gocco Pt. 3

Step Two : Taking the Picture

A. Take the bulbs and screw them into the slots (4 if you're using a B5; 2 if your using the B6).
B. You will need to insert the bulbs into the opening on the top of your Gocco and make sure that the arrow is pointing in the right direction (honestly it won't work if you don't do it any other way)
C. Once the bulb holder is in place Grab the handles of the gocco and with some a little force press down on the gocco. What will happen is a flash will occur (taking the picture of the image)
D. Once you have done this DO NOT OPEN YOUR GOCCO--- I REPEAT! DO NOT OPEN YOUR GOCCO. Pull out the light bulb holder and set it aside. Allow for the bulbs to cool before discarding (I usually move it out of the room I gocco in cause I don't enjoy that smoky smell.)
E. After removing the bulb holder, now open the gocco and your image should be attached to the screen.
F. Remove the Original Overlay paper from the sticky pad and set aside.
G. Pull out the screen set the filter aside and lay the screen flat so the clear side and screen covering are facing you.

Step Three: Lets Color
A.Open up the clear screen covering to show your image. Many images require more than one color so to make sure those colors don't mix you need the ink blocking tape. Place the ink blocking tape around the image areas that require specific colors, note my picture.
If youre image only requires one color I still suggest using the ink blocking tape around your image to control the amount of ink used and where it goes.
B. Once you've put ink blocking tape around your image, lets color. Using the inks, color your images the desired colors.
C. Once all the images have been colored close the screen covering and get ready to print.

Let's Gocco Pt. 4

Step Four: Lets Print
A. Pick up your inked screen and make sure the blue side and arrow are facing you.
B. You will now need to remove your laser print out. (I usually hold the screen in one hand and GENTLY pull the laser print out away from the screen.) If you do this too quick you may leave paper on your image that will get stuck to the screen or injur the screen.
C. Once the laser print out is removed, set it aside and then with the blue side of the screen still facing you, slide the image into the gocco.
D. Select your card and place it on the sticky pad (the pad will keep your paper secure through the process)
*Note if your sticky pad is no longer sticky... the book says to use a damp cloth and pat on the pad then pad tape onto the pad and that is suppose to make your pad sticky again--I haven't tried this yet if any one has let me know if it works)
E. Use the glass window to determine if your card is positioned where you want it to be. If you want to mark your cards place use these red tabs (pictured) to mark the card positioning.
F. Once the card is in place you're ready to print. Close the gocco with a firm press and GENTLY pull it back open and you will see a gocco'd card. Joy and elation should follow {it always does for me} Find a place to set your cards so they can dry. And repeat process until you've printed everything you would like to print.

The Gocco will print in large quantities sometimes without re-inking and sometimes you may have to re-ink. If you have to re-ink its simple.
A. Pull out the screen
B. Lay a blank piece of paper down on your gocco area (if you don't you will have ink on your table or workspace)
C. Open up the screen and based on where you see ink is needed put a dab of ink on that spot.
D. Close the screen covering and insert back into the gocco and resume printing.

Every time I walk into the Michaels I get caught up on the Martha Stewart aisle. My eyes get all wide and my ability to make rational decisions seems to disappear {I have this same problem with handbags and cake too}. I have my eye on a few things to do for holiday decor in my house and have been thinking about having a tree decorated totally with paper. I know you're thinking "fire starter" but, I think it could work. If I was going with a paper themed tree, I'd make these paper ornaments

mixed with a few glittered snowflakes.

I'd hang this poinsettia wreath (inside of course)

and maybe create the frosty village. Ok, the frosty village may be too many crafts.

Blueprint Magazine has some great features in its Holiday Issue that are perfect ways to wrap up you holiday gifts. I know its only November, but its always good to have an early start.

This is something we taught my niece to do at a very young age and now, she can say everything she thinks and feels. For those of us who may not use our words as well... Not everyone has the wedding budget to allow for totally designer invitations, but don't worry there are plenty of ways to have stylish invites without the cost.

Numerous blogs have talked about inspiration boards and even I have made my fair share, but after reading wedding bee and learned about a cool feature from big hudge labs, I couldn't resist playing with it. Sure there were probably more productive things I could be doing {but not today}. Big Huge Labs has a feature where you can create your own "mosaic tiles" or what I call an inspiration boards. It's effortlessly easy. If you have a flickr account or know the url's of the pictures either way you can create as many boards as your heart desires. I really feel stationary is one thing everyone should have. You never know when you'll have to say thanks, send well wishes or just a thought to say thinking of you.
